This first photo is of a Cicada emerging from it's shell after being dormant for 13-17 years. The photos below are of what they look like. They are everywhere, it's like a Cicada circus. So my take on cluttered is that they move in confusion and make the loudest clatter continuously. There are millions of them out right now, empty shells everywhere. The males make a high pitch shrill sound constantly. The life span of an adult cicada is short. As mysteriously as they arrive, they will disappear. Most will be eaten by birds and other predators. They do not bite, just very annoying. The adult size is up to 2 inches long. They make great bait for fishing, if you're fishing for carp.

This is a bug I found a couple years ago and did some research on it. They are called "Wheelbugs", also known as an assassin bug. They’re called wheelbugs because of the raised toothed ridge on the back. They’re conenoses (bedbugs are in the conenose group) and have a formidable stabbing proboscis which can stab you if you provoke them (and they are testy). They inflict extremely painful bites. Scary to know these kinds of bugs are ALIVE and living amongst us.

Topps is selling a brand new series of the ever-horrible Garbage Pail Kids cards. Back in the day these puppies would get my kids in so much trouble at school... they were often gruesome depictions of some sort of sad fate a kid had. Usually relating to boogers or vomit. The Grand Hotel came about from the steamships and the railways of the 1800's. Populations of Chicago, Montreal and Detroit were looking for a vacation like no other. It opened in 1887 and has steadily improved yet remains as grand and pristine as it was more than a century ago. The porch of the Grand Hotel is the best spot on the island to watch the sun set and the lights twinkle on the 5 mile suspension bridge, which is nearly as long as the Golden Gate Bridge. The porch boasts a 660-foot long summer porch.

Wasn't sure what I was going to do for plastic this week, but then yesterday,... it dawned on me. I have been taking Karalee swimming every friday at the pool where I work and she has gone from being scared and clingy in her styrafoam bathing suit to PLASTIC arm floaties, jumping off the side, and now PLASTIC goggles, and talking her best friend into doing the same! She's almost ready for the big outdoor pool!!
Without plastic arm floaties, we couldn't just float in the water.
Without plastic goggles, we couldn't keep our heads in the water checking out the bottom of the pool.

I found this strange looking bug the other day on my way out the door. It was scary and HUGE! After doing some research, The wheel bug, Arilus cristatus (Linnaeus), is a moderately common, widely distributed, beneficial assassin bug that preys on man's pest insects. However, its bite usually is more severe than a bee sting, and both nymphs and adults should be avoided or handled with caution.I have learned that this is called a Wheel Bug. Not one I care to see again.

Did you know that Silly String is being used in Iraq? It has helped many soldiers from tripping over wired areas, also known as trip wires. When sprayed, it will hang over a hidden wire, and light enough not to trip the wire. What an ingeniusous idea.

My most colorful day yet was had last weekend at the Tundra Truck Series Races at the Nashville Superspeedway. First time ever going to something like this and I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope to attend many more in the future. Can't get more colorful than that.

HERE SHE IS ! The USS NEW YORK !

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.

Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite , LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back.'

Douglas at his daughter Beth's wedding, right after he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

I wanted to let most of you know that my sister, PowersTwinB, (Becci's Bungalow), has been absent from the weekly photo hunt because she has been trying to help my brother through his suffering. As I live 4 states away, I am not able to be there to help relieve the stress she carries on her shoulders. These past few months have been brutal for our family. In February we had learned that our brother, Douglas, has Pancreatic Cancer. He is in the last stages of it, and I know there is no cure, but your prayers to help him to lessen the pain he suffers would be very much appreciated. We lost our mother last August and Becci has taken it the hardest. Please join me in prayer.

Self,.......it's all about Me, Me, Me! I decided this year, "I" would camp,..... by mySELF. I found a campground in Smyrna, Tenn and this is my campsite, right on Percy Priest lake. No water (except the lake), no electricity,....... really roughing it. I cook my meals over the campfire. (Thank goodness for aluminum foil!)

The sun going down over the lake. I spend a lot of time down by the water, fishing for my dinner.

I just caught this yesterday and made dinner for my-SELF. Two meals of good eatin'!! I have been camping for the past two weeks and have enjoyed every bit of it. It was good for my SELF being.

I love the church signs best. I have a few so it was hard to choose.
I haven't been able to post for a few weeks. I have been working 7 days a week, pulling doubles, and have been too exhausted to spend much time on the computer. I think that song "Shift Worker" pertains to me. lol And to top it off,.... the LCD is slowly fading on my computer. As of right now, I have the corner of my laptop clamped to hold the screen,............ the things we do to stay connected. If it works, why not. Hope everyone is doing well. I have missed participating in the photo hunt.

I wondered what I was going to do for this week's theme, until today. While watching my granddaughter Karalee, I wandered out of the living room,.. when I came back in, my granddaughter was nowhere in sight. This is where I found her,.. on the top shelf of the bottom cupboard on their new entertainment center. You have to be pretty SKINNY to fit on that little shelf.
